There are many foreign exchange companies who can assist you with the transfer of funds.  The advantage of these is that they take the unpredictability out of payments.  They can provide a risk management service for you that fixes and guarantees exchange rates up to two years ahead.  This facility provides you with protection against the volatile currency exchange markets.

It is also worth noting, that you will probably get a better exchange rate through these companies.  The terms of the exchange are determined by the type of exchange contract you choose.  You will be given an account manager who will help you select which contract – or combination of contracts – is in your best interest e.g.

• Spot Contract – to use when the currency is needed at once
• Fixed Term Forward Contract – when there is a commitment to pay monies on a set date in the future: for example, a stage payment on the purchase of a house under construction
• Forward Time Option Contract – where the date of future payments may change
